bEA is an application to encourage engagement in EAs player ecosystem. Encouraging real world “quests” to help players progress and unlock value in their favorite games.
PRODUCT DESIGN, PROTOTYPING, INSTALLATION DESIGN
Knowing that EA is one of the largest gaming companies in the world, the goal of this project was to create an application that would bring the brand into the realm of a lifestyle company. As digital landscapes have evolved we have seen the transition from a single purchase model to subscription based services. The idea of bEA is to create a better value proposition the subscription based service the EA will transition to in the coming years. Not only would you get access to all of your favorite games but also have access to special brand centric activities that can unlock value in the economies of EAs games.
Not only did we believe this idea would increase player engagement and bring the new value, we also felt it would have other benefits for the company that were in line with other large social network business models. Being able to connect to players data on multiple devices would allow EA to paint a better picture of who its users are and be able to understand how they move through the digital landscape of gaming centric platforms. This information in itself would be much more valuable then the economy value that the app would unlock.
Installation and Proof of Concept Video
EA GameJam 2018 - 2nd Place
A panel of top executives was assembled to judge the finalists. We were given 10 minutes to sell them on our idea. We walked them through our intentions and vision for the app and used an on screen demo and video to drive the whole thing home. At the end of the day we placed 2nd and were awarded $3000 dollars for our efforts and for the ownership of the intellectual property.
What I did and why it mattered:
Came up with the initial "meta game" idea as well as the system of tying it to a digital currency
Created all assisting visuals for presentations (not the logo)
Wireframed entire app experience
Organized, shot and edited the shortfilm
Led the final presentation
Made the connection between clients business goals and the competition itself
