Redesigning with a large community
Over the past 8 years Booooooom has built a loyal following of creatives who consume a stream of daily inspiration. To ensure a seamless transition to the new platform meant effectively migrating data and evolving familiar elements. This continuity helped maintain Booooooom’s strong reputation with their community.
A New Nav
The largest redesign in this project was the navigation system. As Booooooom is very focused on discovery of new content it was essential that the navigation easily allowed people to find new things and search with ease. Instead of one-and-done page view, the user journeys along a path of related content. Developing this guided experience creates a balance of curation and exploration. A prominent search feature allows users to instantly find what they’re looking for in Booooooom’s extensive collection of amazing content. It also allows like-minded creatives to find each other and connect.
Flexible Consumable Content
Since the content can be almost anything, we needed to have a very flexible content display system for all of the long form content. Customizable page layouts provided Booooooom with the flexibility to present content in a dynamic way that doesn’t feel templated. Posts can be art directed based on content to create variation and keep users engaged. Advertisements had their own design system as well, we created special treatments for the ads pertaining to the platform itself to ensure they stood out from the paid content. All of these flexible pieces of content would not work together without thinking of them as their own atoms in the system of Boooooom.
